Qwetu & Qejani Chiromo
2,800 student beds at UoN's Chiromo campus
About the project
Qwetu & Qejani Chiromo is a large 2,800-bed student residence developed by Acorn Holdings in partnership with the University of Nairobi (UoN) at its Chiromo campus. Announced in February 2022, it combines the group's two brands: 850 beds under the premium Qwetu brand and 1,950 beds under the affordable Qejani brand. It is the 11th Qwetu facility in the country. The partnership aims to ease UoN's acute housing shortage, estimated at over 45,000 beds, by accommodating students from both the main and Chiromo campuses in a safe, modern and well-located setting. The project follows Acorn's proven purpose-built student housing model: furnished rooms, 24/7 security, WiFi, gym, study spaces and community living. Under construction, it ranks among the largest purpose-built student housing developments in East Africa.
