Mall of Africa
Southern Africa's largest single-phase shopping mall

About the project
Opened on 28 April 2016 at the heart of Waterfall City in Midrand, the Mall of Africa is Southern Africa's largest single-phase shopping centre. Developed by Atterbury on behalf of JSE-listed REIT Attacq, it offers roughly 131,000 m² of retail lettable area and more than 300 stores across two main levels. The mall features an open-air restaurant plaza connecting directly to Waterfall City Park, the green heart of the precinct. From opening day it drew tens of thousands of shoppers and established itself as a major retail hub on the Midrand corridor between Sandton and Pretoria. Its strategic location along the N1 highway, near the Midrand Gautrain station and three airports including O.R. Tambo International, makes it accessible across Gauteng. Fashion, dining, leisure, services and anchor stores coexist in a contemporary architectural setting that catalysed the development of Waterfall City.
