V&A Waterfront

V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa

Africa's most-visited mixed-use precinct

About the project

The V&A Waterfront is Cape Town's flagship mixed-use precinct, developed around the oldest working harbour in the southern hemisphere, at the foot of Table Mountain. Jointly owned by Growthpoint Properties and the Public Investment Corporation (PIC), it blends retail, offices, hotels, housing, museums and leisure, and ranks among Africa's most-visited destinations. Its development continues in successive phases: the Silo District, completed in early 2017, added over 35,000 m² of sustainable mixed-use space including offices, residential, the Radisson Red hotel and the Zeitz MOCAA contemporary art museum. The Canal District, whose R3.9 billion expansion has been approved by the City of Cape Town, brings together retail and offices and links to the Silo District. A major roughly R20 billion project, notably around the Granger Bay precinct, is set to further expand this unique blend of harbour heritage, tourism and prestige real estate.
