Longkloof Precinct
17,000+ m² heritage mixed-use precinct in Gardens

About the project
Longkloof Precinct is the revitalisation of a historic quarter delivered by Growthpoint Properties, just off iconic Kloof Street in the Gardens area of Cape Town. The result of a fifteen-year project, this mixed-use precinct offers more than 17,000 m² of A-grade office and retail space. Growthpoint's vision was to reimagine six buildings, including a former school and an industrial building with its boiler room, plus a vacant lot, into a vibrant, hip destination true to Cape Town's essence yet respectful of its heritage. The scheme comprises the restoration, refurbishment and extension of five historic buildings, the construction of a new hotel and the creation of a publicly accessible urban square. The 154-room Canopy by Hilton Cape Town Longkloof is the first of its brand in Africa and incorporates the façade of the former MLT House. Office tenants include Travelstart, Mushroom Media and Workshop17, while Longkloof Square gathers a mix of food and fashion unique to Cape Town, designed as a meeting point for the local community. dhk Architects led the design.
