Century City
Live, work and play around the canals

About the project
Century City is a 250-hectare mixed-use urban development in Milnerton, Cape Town, led by Rabie Property Group. The precinct integrates housing, offices, retail, hotels and leisure amenities arranged around an 8.5 km network of artificial canals and the preserved Intaka Island nature reserve, a 16-hectare biodiversity space. It is anchored by Canal Walk, one of Cape Town's largest shopping centres, with about 148,000 m² of retail and over 360 stores. Begun in 1997, the project was taken over by Rabie Property Group in 2004, which drove a major expansion representing over a million square metres built or earmarked and more than R21 billion of investment. Century City is now seeing a fresh development boom of around R4.3 billion that will expand this 'live, work, stay, shop and play' hub by a quarter, confirming its status as a city within a city, near the CBD and Cape Town airport.
