About the project
The 600 social housing units of Sicoro-Kati, also known as Rokiaville, is an affordable housing scheme led by the Société immobilière et foncière du Mali (SIFMA-SA) under a public-private partnership with the Malian state. Works were launched on 20 December 2013 at Sicoro-Sananfara, in the Kati district, with the foundation stone laid by the Minister of Housing. Financing of USD 20 million (CFA 10 billion) was raised from Ecobank and Shelter Afrique. The 600 villas were built in three models: 200 type-A F3 units called "Mandeni", 200 type-B F3 units "Louanzé Kèlè" and 200 F4 units "Dewnjiki". Construction generated between 10,000 and 12,000 jobs and the villas were delivered around 2016. The project is part of a broader national social housing policy, with SIFMA announcing thousands of additional units at Missabougou and Sicoro-Kati.
