About the project

Carried out by the Societe Immobiliere et Fonciere du Mali (SIFMA-SA) under a public-private partnership with the Malian State, the 600 social housing units programme at Sicoro-Kati, named Rokiaville, aims to address the housing shortage for households in Bamako and Kati. Construction was officially launched on 20 December for an expected duration of sixteen months and was projected to generate between 10,000 and 12,000 jobs. The 600 units are split into three models: 200 F3 A homes called Mandeni, 200 F3 B named Louanze Kele and 200 F4 named Dewnjiki. Financing of around 10 billion FCFA (USD 20 million) was secured through an agreement with ECOBANK and Shelter Afrique. The Sicoro-Kati site had already hosted 350 social housing units delivered by SIFMA-SA for the Malian Housing Office (OMH) in 2011. The developer has also announced a broader ambition to build 15,000 social housing units over three years, including 5,000 at Sicoro-Kati and 10,000 at Missabougou.
