About the project
This SIFMA-SA programme covers the construction of 500 F4 and F5 (R+1) social housing units at N'Tabacoro, in the rural commune of Kalabancoro (Kati district) on the outskirts of Bamako. The project is part of Mali's national 20,000-housing programme and a public-private partnership with the Malian state, formalised by a convention. Financing of 10 billion FCFA was raised from a banking pool comprising Ecobank-Mali and BIM-SA; the financing convention was signed on 13 March 2015 at the Bamako International Conference Centre, in the presence of the Minister of Urban Planning and Housing, followed by the laying of the foundation stone at N'Tabacoro. Construction was officially launched on 19 September 2015. The programme aims to expand the supply of affordable social housing around Bamako, in a rapidly urbanising area. The unit count (500), the housing types (F4 and F5) and the financing structure are the details confirmed by the Malian press.
