About the project

Portside is Cape Town's tallest building, a 139-metre, 34-level office tower (including basement and podium parking) rising on the Foreshore in the city's emerging financial district. Located on the corner of Buitengracht, Hans Strijdom Avenue, Mechau and Bree Streets, Portside offers over 57,000 m² of AAA office space and 1,444 parking bays. Completed in 2014, it was the first significant skyscraper built in Cape Town's CBD in fifteen years. The project is a joint venture between FirstRand Bank and Old Mutual, with a total investment of R1.6 billion. The tower houses the provincial headquarters of FirstRand's divisions, including FNB, RMB, WesBank and Ashburton. Designed by dhk Architects, Portside earned a 5-star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa, becoming the tallest green building in Africa. A major architectural landmark on the Cape Town skyline.
