About the project

The Olembé district development is a large-scale urban operation led by MAETUR (Cameroon's urban and rural land development agency) across 288 hectares north of Yaoundé, the capital. It is designed to host an international-standard multi-sports complex (football stadium and supporting facilities), mass housing production (up to 6,000 planned apartments) and subdivisions for residential, commercial and community uses. The site features modern infrastructure: paved roads, potable water and electricity networks, wastewater treatment, CCTV, cycle paths, public lighting and fibre optics. In April 2017 the housing ministry received the new Olembé district in a first delivery comprising 660 social housing units, a school, a health centre and a shopping centre. Part of the government's flagship social housing programme, it aims to give the capital a modern, structured mixed-use district at its northern gateway.
