About the project

King City is a 1,018-hectare (2,500-acre) master-planned new city developed by Rendeavour, Africa's largest new city builder, in partnership with the Takoradiman Stool, in Ghana's Western Region near Takoradi, the country's third-largest city. Designed to support the economic growth driven by the region's mining and energy boom, it plans around 25,000 homes in a contemporary urban setting that, once complete, will house 70,000 people and create tens of thousands of jobs. A mixed-use, mixed-income development, King City follows Rendeavour's live-work-play concept, with planning that integrates residential, retail, commercial, educational, healthcare and recreational uses. Over 30% of the land is set aside for green space, reflecting a commitment to sustainability, social equity and environmental quality. The project has its own development code governing urban planning and architecture.
