About the project
Discovery's global headquarters, 1 Discovery Place, is a landmark office building in Sandton Central, developed in joint venture by Growthpoint Properties (55%) and Zenprop Property Holdings (45%). At around 112,000 sqm it is the largest single-phase commercial office development ever built in Africa. Located on the corner of Rivonia Road and Katherine Street, diagonally opposite Sandton City and a block from the Sandton Gautrain station, it comprises three linked office towers with a ground floor, eight office floors and a rooftop level with sports facilities, above nine basements totalling more than 5,100 parking bays. Designed by Boogertman + Partners, the building began a four-year programme in 2014 and Discovery moved in at the start of 2018. It holds a 6-Star Green Star rating, the largest new build to achieve this in South Africa at the time.
